AN IMPORTANT DIAMOND AND CULTURED PEARL FRINGE NECKLACE, OSCAR HEYMAN & BROTHERS
Heyman & Brothers, Oscar
Designed as an line of graduated circular and marquise-cut diamonds, the front enhanced by seven graduated cultured pearls measuring from approximately 14.40 to 11.35 mm, suspending a drop-shaped cultured pearl from a circular, pear and marquise-cut diamond four-stone motif, alternating with smaller drop-shaped cultured pearl and diamond drops, mounted in platinum--13 ins. long
By Oscar Heyman & Brothers (number obscured)
Diamonds are accessorized by a variety of gemstones but, perhaps, pearls are the most complementary; their subtle luster tones down their iciness and their rounded outline softens the sharp, rectilinear diamond shapes. Pearls' white luster is also a perfect color match for diamonds' colorless brilliance. Together, they make beautiful jewelry, epitomized by the illustrated necklace. On it, South Sea pearls alternate with diamonds forming the necklace with drops of South Sea pearls suspended from diamond trilobate leaf motifs. This design is reminiscent of similarly styled necklaces from the Belle Epoque which, in turn, were based on French jewelry from the reigns of Louis XIV, XV and XVI. The style of this necklace is a timeless, classic design, complimentary to any gown. It was made by the prestigious jewel concern, Oscar Heyman &Brothers who are noted for their distinctive jewelry, superbly crafted and made out of only the finest materials, as exemplified by the carefully selected pearls, each different, all belonging together.
