Lot Essay

Paul Arma was a Hungarian musician that Kertsz photographed, probably for publicity purposes. The four known images are illustrated in Of Paris and New York, cat. nos. 59-62.

This image was reproduced in the 1929 article "La Photographie est-elle un art? - Kertsz" by Jean Gallotti in L'Art vivant 5 (op. cit, p. 266, cat. no 60, note). This may be the print used for that article.

Enlargements by Kertsz from this period are considered rare.
