Lot Essay
Approximately three prints of this image are known to exist. One of those, from the collection of Laguna Art Museum, was sold at Christie's, 23 April 1996, lot 284. A typed label, attached to the reverse of the mount of that print read, "Pierrot" An arrangement of three disconnected areas within a rectangle. Designed and painted fabric of costume myself and made use of my wife's head with heavy black tempera color makeup to enlarge mouth, etc. An alternative title, A Poster in Angles was annotated on the reverse of the mount as well. It is now in the Sondra Gilman Collection, New York (see: Weinberg, From the Heart, The Power of Photography - A Collector's Choice, p. 77).
