The leaf tip-carved crestrail above a reserve carved in relief with stars centering an eagle, above a padded back bowed, seat and arms upholstered in purple velvet, the back also with an embroidered coat-of-arms, the arms with sphinx supports on lion's monopodia legs and feet headed by panelled stars, the bottom of the drop-in seat with the pencil inscription No 1 houilliere 1854, the front rail also with an indistinct paper label
