Lot Essay

This classical female head was sculpted by Marcel Gimond and stood in Grant's studio in Fitzroy Street. The bust is now at Charleston (see lot 9). Grant painted several still lifes which include the head (see R. Shone, Bloomsbury Portraits, London, 1993, p.207).
