Sold with a letter from Gerald Cooper, dated 10 May 1972: 'Dear Mrs. Van Moppes/Thank you for your letter & cheque./I will tell the R.A. that the picture is sold. I was/very interested to hear that you have 3 pictures of mine/& particularly the one you describe - the big plant/is giant hogweed which grows to 12 ft or more. The/piece in the painting is the flower bud and smaller leaves./I remember it well as one of my best at that/time & am glad that it has a good home. I have a photograph/of it - The new painting will not require varnishing for/sometime but I will come & do it in a few months time/if you will permit. I will get in touch with/you about the delivery of the painting. I am sending/this to Pont St./Yours sincerely/Gerald Cooper'.
