A needlework panel with much raised work, embroidered in coloured silks and chenille against an ivory satin ground, the central medallion with a scene, probably the banishment of Hagar and Ishmael by Abraham, the upper spandrels with angels, the lower corners with a leopard and lion, the upper panel with an elderly man being brought food by birds, the lower panel with a woman and a man playing a pipe flanking a fountain, further figues beyond--18 x 25in. (47 x 63cm.), third quarter of the 17th century, English, probably removed from a casket, remounted, framed and glazed, some wear and damage
