John Augustus Hervey (1757-1796), eldest son of the 4th Earl of Bristol, entered the Royal Navy and served on H.M.S. Viper Sloop 1780; H.M.S. Recovery 1781; H.M.S. Raisonable 1782 and was killed in action on H.M.S. Zealous in 1796.
He married Elizabeth (d. 1818), daughter of Colin Drummond of Quebec in 1779. She married secondly Lord Seaford (d. 1845) leaving with other issue Charles Augustus who succeeded his great-grandfather as Lord Howard de Walden.
