Lot Essay

This miniature was painted in Hamburg where Jannasch became a pupil of Domenico Bossi and with whose wife he left for Spain. In 1798, Jannasch became Spanish pintor de cmara under the name of Held de Jaanasch and died in Tonneins (Loire et Garonne) in March 1804.
