Geneva, circa 1840, with later French control gold marks
Octagonal gold box, the slightly domed hinged cover, four sides and four corners enamelled with flowers on a brown ground, the base enamelled in translucent steel blue on a wavy engine-turned ground framed by bands of opaque white dots and containing the key-hole, the lid framed by a border of half-pearls, the two levers at the front side set with two half-pearls, very slightly raised thumbpiece, bright-cut gold rims
