probably Vienna, circa 1770, the enamels attributed to Wenceslas Chudy, two gold implements struck with the Vienna duty mark 1806-1807 and the French gold importation mark 1864-1893
Rectangular ncessaire of flattened rectangular section, both sides of hinged cover and base inset with rectangular enamel plaques finely painted in blue camaeu with scnes champtres, the sides similarly enamelled with garlands of flowers, the reeded gold mounts stamped with diagonal ovolos within scrolls, the enamel panel on the base sliding to reveal a secret compartment with a slit fitted to hide a billet doux or a miniature, the inside fitted with a gold-mounted mirror with silk backing, tablets, a folding knife with gold blade and mother-of-pearl handle, steel scissors with gold handles, gold-capped pencil and a gold ear-spoon
