Lot Essay

Maria II da Gloria (1819-1853), Queen of Portugal 1834-1853, was the daughter of King Pedro I (see lot 162). In 1835, she married Augustus Charles of Beauharnais who died immediately and in 1835, Ferdinand of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha with whom she had seven children.
