Tiffany & Co. have always been innovators. This watch is probably a transitional model, ordered by Tiffany & Co. at the time when Patek Philippe changed the dial of reference 2499 from dial type 1518 (illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, 1st edition, p. 231, pl. 384) to the new dial with baton numerals. This dial remained in use until the production of reference number 3970.
The dial of this watch resembles very much to the dial of reference 2438/1 (illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, 1st edition, p. 217, pl. 372) but with the difference of two subsidiary dials for constant seconds and 30 minutes register.
This watch appears to be the first model never published nor offered for sale with Arabic instead of baton numerals and without tachometer scale.
