Lot Essay

It has been suggested that the present watercolour may be that included in the Ralph Bernal Sale at Christie's London, 21 April 1853, lot 148 as The Woodman's Hut. As the sale catalogue does not include dimensions it has not been possible to confirm this.
We are grateful to Craig Englund for suggesting a date of circa 1832-1834.
