The first enamelled in puce, iron-red, black, gold and sepia enamels after a European print depicting a lady apparently near her departure in the arms of her husband and in the company of a doctor, the rim with shell-scroll, hairline; and the second enamelled in a similar palette with Diana beckoning to Cupid in a forest, rim chip
both 9 in. (23 cm.) diam. (2)

Lot Essay

The unsual scene on the first plate is also on a plate within a more elaborate cartouche and border illustrated by F. and N. Hervout and Y. Bruneau, La Porcelaine des Compagnies des Indes Dcor Occidental, 1986, no.15.39, colour plate.
