Lot Essay
The decoration on the present pair of plates and on three others sold from the Lanna Collection are likely to have been painted after designs by the Dutch engraver Petrus Schenk (1654-1713. They have been traditionally ascribed to the hand of Ignaz Preissler who painted primarily in Eisenrot, Schwarzlot and gelb. However, other hausmalerei are known to have had access to the same engraved sources.
