A PAIR OF DIRECTOIRE GREEN-PAINTED AND PARCEL-GILT FAUTEUILS
Each stamped JACOB FRERESE MESLEE, circa 1796-1803
Each with grooved frame, the scrolled crestrail above a rectangular padded back, arms and seat upholstered in associated close-nailed Beauvais green-ground Beauvais tapestry centered with a floral sprig reserve, the downswept arms on turned baluster supports, above a bowed seatrail and on ring-turned tapering legs, with printed museum labels inscribed in ink 5.60 and 18.56, black ink inscription ACC 55.42.2 and in red ink 55.42.1, one with the black ink French & Company inventory number 31395, later blocks to inside of rails (2)
