Lot Essay

This table was commissioned in 1972 to a specific design. As in the rectangular version (op.cit) the female narrator stands on a balcony at one corner relating the story of St. George and the Dragon. The balance of objects is completed with the presence of the bronze shrub which acts a backdrop to the story and which is such a hallmark of Diego's later sculpture.
