A tortoiseshell and gilt-mounted snuff box and a lacquered tortoise shell and silver snuff box
Apparently unmarked, circa 1760
Of rectangular form, the cover inlaid with a gilt foliate band and rosets at the corners and with applied pierced scrolling foliate-shaped thumb piece the other of elliptical form, the mounts reeded, the plain sides engraved with name: R.M. Mence, Worchester and the cover inlaid with a tortoiseshell plaque and pierced with a partly engraved elegant scene in a shaped cartouche border by a scroll-shaped and flowerbasket border, with plain tortoiseshell base
