An English silver cruet stand with eight bottles
Maker's mark of Peter and Ann Bateman, London, 1793
Of boat shape, wooden base, on four tapering part fluted supports, the sides with reeded rims, bright-cut engraved with floral garlands and vacant cartouches, pierced with a floral and foliate band, the stem with shaped and engraved openworked bottle holder and scrolled engraved handle, with eight silver mounted cut-glass bottles, two with engraved spouts, hinged covers, shell thumb pieces and shaped handles, two with pierced high-domed tops and baluster finials, four with shaped spouts and mounted cork baluster-shaped stoppers
