A LARGE KINKOZAN VASE AND A MEIZAN BOX AND COVER
The first impressed and sealed Kinkozan zo, the second sealed Yabu Meizan, Meiji Period (late 19th Century)
The cylindrical vase decorated in various coloured enamels and gilt on a blue ground with two rectangular panels, one modelled as a hanging scroll with elaborate brocade mounts, depicting ladies with children in a flowering garden, the other with Minatomo Tametomo standing on the beach seeing Kamo Mochimits's boats approaching his island, getting ready to fire his fatal arrow; the box and cover delicately decorated with a seascape with boats between islands and mountains beyond, the cover with eight children playing, the interior with a profusion of butterflies
