Two Svres style turquoise-ground comports
painted with a maiden reading a love letter attended by cupid and doves, and two maidens reading a letter, both within raised gilt leaves and flowers, the borders gilt with diaper-pattern sections and scrolls below white and gilt C-scrolls and shaped gilt dentil rims, the undersides gilt with a caillout pattern, imitation Svres marks, circa 1860 (chip to footrim, some minor gilt-over chips, slight rubbing) -- 23cm. diam
