Details
BANKHEAD, Tallulah.
Photograph, approx. 6 x 8 in., silver print, inscribed and signed ("Tallulah") to "Warren". Laid down on archival matte paper and mounted to a larger sheet measuring 9.5 x 15 in., and signed on the matte by the photographer, Dorothy Wilding, London, circa 1920s. The daughter of House Speaker William Bankhead, Tallulah was one of American theater's best actresses. After a successful seven-year stint in English theater, she returned to the United States under contract to Paramount, where she appeared in several films, including a critically acclaimed performance in Hitchcock's Lifeboat (1944). A beautiful photograph, and quite rare.
