HILTON, James.
HILTON, James. Typed letter signed ("James Hilton"), to Harry Ackerman, Hollywood, 27 October, 1941, on Paramount Pictures letterhead. 1 page, 4to. "Congratulations on the GOODBYE MR. CHIPS show yesterday. The whole production was charming...and [I] think it quite an achievement to have compressed the story into such a short period without losing the flavor." Hilton's "Goodbye Mr. Chips," was a huge success. The 1939 movie version earned MGM 7 Academy Award nominations, and the work drew two more for the 1969 remake. Ackerman produced a successful television drama for the same title, and Hilton writes with his approval. Extremely fine combination to have Hilton on Paramount stationery writing about "Goodbye Mr. Chips."
