Monroe and Gable's last movie, The Misfits was directed by Huston and written by Arthur Miller, Monroe's then husband. Marilyn appears on screen in this very skimpy swim suit as she climbs out of Pyramid Lake in Nevada.
Accompanying the lot is a letter of provenance addressed to Christie's from C.O. 'Doc' Erickson of Los Angeles. He writes on MGM letterhead that "Having been the production supervisor on The Misfits, I can vouch for the authenticity of this bikini bathing suit. I was present the day Marilyn wore it on location at Pyramid Lake, Nevada in the summer of 1960."
