AN UNUSUAL IMPRESSED GRAY POTTERY CUP
WESTERN ZHOU DYNASTY

Raised on a rounded base with concave center, the slightly flared sides impressed with a mesh pattern ending just below the sharp, projecting edge of the stepped shoulder, set to one side with a strap handle molded with ribs and terminating in a scrolled capitol at the thin edge of the grooved, everted rim, with earth encrustation of reddish tone, small restored chip--5½in. (14cm.) across handle
