Lot Essay

The underarm and leg turning profiles, as well as the lower back splat design indicate that this chair was made in the workshops of George Wilson (fl.1841-1892) on the Manthorpe Road, Grantham, Lincs. See Dr. B Cotton The English Regional Chair, Woodbridge, 1991, pp. 104-107.
