A GRAYISH-GREEN-GLAZED STONEWARE BALUSTER VASE AND A COVER
VASE: SONG DYNASTY
The ovoid body divided into six panels by double bow-string bands rising from the spreading foot to a high shoulder encircled by a single bow-string band and applied with a pair of pinched loop handles at the base of the tall, slightly tapering neck which flares outward to the upright, finger-grooved rim, covered inside and out with a transparent, bubble-suffused glaze of grayish-green tone, the base unglazed exposing the pale gray ware; the replacement cover of foliate form with bud finial covered in a glaze of similar tone--vase 11½in. (29.1cm.) high
