The sides carved in deep relief with an animated scholar playing the qin whilst seated in a dense bamboo grove, with a pair of figures conversing beneath the boughs of a large spreading tree, and a single figure huddled in a sampan beside a bridge, all within a continuous rocky mountain landscape incised with cloud vapor and bamboo leaves, of attractive, striated honey tones, mounted with hardwood rim and base--5¾in. (14.6cm.) high
