A related example of the same date is illustrated by Helmut Brinker and Albert Lutz, Chinesisches Cloisonn, Zrich, 1985, no.41. It is particularly interesting to note the similarities of the present lot to a fahua example, such as the meiping in the Cleveland Museum of Art (42.716), illustrated by Daisy Lion-Goldschmidt, Ming Porcelain, New York and Fribourg, 1978, no.97, p.122, as both techniques share similar constraints which gave rise to a shared aesthetic.
