A RARE MING WUCAI HEXAFOIL BOX AND COVER
wanli six-character mark and of the period (1573 - 1619)
Of bracket-lobed shape, the flat cover divided into radiating petal panels, painted and enamelled around the exterior with cats sitting on incense burners with other cats prowling around and climbing bamboo below a band of scrolling foliage around the rim, the cover with flower-sprays around the replaced agate bead knop, hairline crack
5.7/8 in. (15 cm.) high
