AN INDIAN AGATE-HANDLED DAGGER AND SCABBARD
LATE 19TH CENTURY
The semi-translucent stone of the handle shading from milky white to pale gray and brown, carved with a 'jewel'-inlaid knob at one end and a bifurcated flange at the other, the blade with damascened gold foliate inlay and cast on both sides with a trefoil motif where it sockets into the handle, with a gilt-metal-mounted scabbard covered in red velvet, scabbard worn, one 'jewel' missing--17 3/8in. (44cm.) long overall
