A LARGE BRONZE BELL AND STRIKER
XUANDE SIX-CHARACTER CAST MARK, QING DYNASTY

The sides cast in high relief with the Eight Trigrams set between ribbed bands above five dragon roundels, each depicting a five-clawed dragon pursuing a flaming pearl amidst trailing clouds, four dragons shown in profile, the fifth, centered below the nianhao, shown facing front with its body coiled around the pearl, above a border of keyfret, the top with a circular aperture positioned below the pearl surmounting the arch of the addorsed dragon handle; the striker cast in high relief as a dragon coiled around a long, hollow cylinder, with losses and restoration to the horns--bell 14½in. (36.8cm.) high; striker 15 7/8in. (40.3cm.) long; wood stand 30in. (76.2cm.) high
