Nara style of rounded square plate carved with shishi and peony in shishiaibori, details in gilt and hirazogan, signed Chinkyu and Nobuaki. 7.5cm.; oval iron, rice plants in nikubori jisukashi and gilt, signed Choshu no ju Masasada, 7.2cm.; round iron, bamboo and birds in yo-sukashi, 8.3cm.; juni-mokkogata iron, a hare behind tokusa in sukashi and takazogan, 7.6cm.; oval brass, dragon among clouds in gilt takazogan and hiraniku, 6.5cm.; round, pierced with three bouquets of flowers, 8.4cm.; tsuchimeji mokkogata with hammered rim, sword and jingasa in takazogan, 8.7cm.; and seven others, all 16th-19th century (14)

Lot Essay

Chinkyu [Yoshihisa] was born into the Shoami school. He went to Edo and studied under Nara Toshiharu. He was the teacher of the first Yasuchika. Nobuaki worked in Dewa.
