Finely worked in satin stitch and Peking knot with large roundels of peony confronted by elaborate bats on a dense floral ground, interspersed with butterflies and flower sprays above a terrestrial diagram emblazoned with further peony above a lishui stripe at the hem, with wide blue-ground bands densely embroidered in a similar style at the collar, sleeves and cuffs, picked out in vivid shades of red, blue, orange, gray and green against a turquoise-blue ground--56½in. (143.5cm.) long
