A LARGE TWELVE-PANEL BROWN COROMANDEL SCREEN
18TH CENTURY

Very delicately carved and painted with courtly scenes set within a palace complex, depicting various scenes of leisurely pursuits, including ladies sewing, at their toilet, strolling and talking, female dancers before an emperor, bridges crossing lotus ponds, bannermen and various trees, all set between finely detailed floral panels below, vases of flowers on the sides and 'antiques' above, the reverse with a lengthy inscription and landscape panels, some restoration and flaking--each panel 115 x 17¾in. (292 x 45cm.)
