Of Early Small Ring Hammer configuration, with long extractor, two-lug firing-pin and 34-groove wooden grips, the integral rear-sight graduated from 50 to 1000, late trigger, the right-hand side of the frame inscribed 'Admiralty Prize For Meritorious Examination Sub-Lieutenant Henry I.R. Trischler, R.N. 1904'

Lot Essay

Henry Irwin Roslyn Trischler joined the Navy as Midshipman on 15th. January 1900 and passed upwards through the ranks until he was made Commander on 31st. December 1916. During the Great War he served on the battleship H.M.S. Erin and was afterwards attached to the Department of Torpedoes and Mines until his retirement in 1922. He was closely involved in early submarines and is recorded in Leanes' Navy list for 1906 as a submarine boat instructor
