Lot Essay

Majestic was laid up in November 1911 after over twenty years of reliable work. She was hastily brought back into service in May 1912 after Titanic's foundering. New stationary was printed and, when Ismay suddenly resigned, much of it was amended with his successors name pasted over the top; The Irish Emigrant Ticket was of the type specifically given to Irish emigrants in exchange for the American Prepaid Certificate (see earlier lots)
