A fine, probably dockyard, contemporary mid-19th Century model of an East Indiaman
with bound masts, yards with foot ropes, standing and running rigging, carved female figurehead, hair rails, catheads, anchors with bound wooden stocks, bitts, companionways, belaying rails and pins, gratings, outlined fore and aft deck superstructures, capstan, decklights, helm and other details. The hull carved, from the solid with planked deck and decorated rear and quarter galleries is finished in 'copper' to the waterline, black, white and varnish (some restoration) -- 44 x 71 (112 x 181.5cm.) Stand and glazed case. Measurements overall -- 80 x 83in. (203 x 211cm.)
