A detailed 1:200 scale waterline model of the Cunard Passenger Steamer Carpathia
built by C. Riches with masts, radio aerial, derricks with rigging, anchors, winch, deck rails, fairleads, deck hatches, ventilators, companionways, superstructure with bridge and open bridge over, engine room lights, stayed funnel with safety valve extension pipe and hooter, sixteen ship's boats in davits and many other details. The framed hull, finished in red and black is mounted in a painted moulded seascape within a glazed case with legend. Measurements overall -- 13 x 40in. (33 x 103.5cm.)

Lot Essay

The wreck of Carpathia was recently located 185 miles off Lands End in 600ft of water, where she has lain for 81 years since being torpedoed by a German U-boat during World War One.
