A detailed sailors model of the S.Y. Grace, of circa 1885
built by A. Samuel with masts, yards, standing and running rigging, figurehead, anchors, deckrails, winches, companionways, superstructure with saloon, promenade deck, saloon lights, glazed bridge with open bridge over with helm, binnacle and telegraph, stayed funnel with safety valve extension pipe and whistle, engine room lights, seven ship's boats and one steam launch in davits, aft emergency helm and other details. The hull with rudder, four blade propeller and scored decks is finished in 'copper' to the waterline, black and varnish and mounted on two carved wooden columns, glazed display case with a bronze medal inscribed East London Industrial Exhibition Awarded to A. Samuel and dated 1885. Measurements overall -- 20 x 39in. (51 x 101cm.)
