Goudji Amachoukeli was born in 1941 in Georgia. A silversmith-sculptor, he is known simply as Goudji.

Greatly influenced by his native Georgia, the artist is inspired by numerous cultures to create timeless works of art. In 1969, he married a Frenchwoman, Katherine Barsacq, and five years later moved to Paris.
Goudji, whose technique is unique, embellishes his gold, vermeil or silver creations with gemstones chosen for their artisitc and symbolic qualities. From tigers eye to rock crystal, red jasper to lapis lazuli, he works with more than fifty varieties of stones selected from the German town of Idar-Oberstein where agate and jasper seams were mined and where stone sculpting/cutting continues today. In twenty years, he has created over 3500 works of art.

His unique style has caught the eye of many high profile individuals which explains his rapid rise to success and continuing popularity. Such individuals include Hubert de Givenchy, Hlne Carrre d'Encausse and Franois Miterrand, who often gave the artist's works to visiting heads of state. Claude Bernard exhibited his creations in 1989 and in 1993. And it was Goudji, in 1991, who created the alter and liturgical objects for the Chartres Basilica.

For the first time ever, Goudji's works will be offered at auction.
