The dished rectangular brêche d'Alep marble top above a frieze inlaid with entrelac, with a side drawer above cabriole legs applied with foliate-cast chutes ending in scroll sabots, the lockplate inscribed Sormani 134 Boulevard Hausmann, Paris-28¼in. (71.5cm.) high, 18½in. (47cm.) wide, 12½in. (32cm.) deep

Paul-Charles Sormani (1848-1934) worked originally with his father Paul and subsequently with his mother Ursule-Marie-Phillippine until 1878. In 1918 he formed a partnership with Thiebault Frères and established a shop at 134, boulevard Haussmann and remained there until the firm closed in 1934
