Louis Graveraet Kaufman moved to New York in 1910 and became president of a bank that merged with Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company. He originated and developed the concept of branch banking. Mr. Kaufman was a founding director of General Motors as well as a major contributor to the financing of the development of the Empire State Building.
