Tasting note: With Petrus and Cheval-Blanc, the Latour head and shoulders above the rest in this vintage. This was largely due to the harvest being completed before the worst of the rain set in. Still deep ruby. Classic cigar box mature Cabernet nose with an intense perfume and notes of violets. Far from a blockbuster but unmistakably Latour with muscular and foursquare structure. Very cedary and on the end palate there is elegance finesse and a lift in sweet ripe fruit. An unusually beautiful Latour. (T.Hudson)
