The production run for these highly practical self-contained systems was from 1961 - 1969. They were designed as modular storage, sleep, and work units and could be purchased in any given combination. Lending themselves to dormitory use, a multitude of these Eames Contract Storage Units, as they are known, were installed in various universities around the United States in the Sixties. The design never really caught on and was therefore discontinued by the end of the decade.
