A pair of William III silver candlesticks
Maker's mark of Benjamin Bathurst, London, circa 1695
Each on incurved triangular base resting on three claw and ball and foliage feet, the border chased with acanthus foliage, the stem formed as a kneeling blackamoor with turban by his side and raised arms supporting large gadrooned baluster knop above, the lower part of the vase-shaped socket chased with swirling foliage, with ovolo border, one base engraved with a crest, one marked on base, the other obscure by repair
