The original plaster model was exhibited at the Société Royale de Zoologie, Anvers in 1910 and 1955. The large model of Éléphant Blanc Mendiant was limited to an edition of five examples of which the present lot is cast number four. A small statuette of this model was cast in an edition of 20.
