(approx 5 x 5 inches) lantern slides, the majority in wood mounts and hand-painted or coloured; thirteen showing cathedrals or significant buildings, two collodion postives, two showing maritime subjects, one polar, three story slides and five views including a two-part dissolve set; two 20cm. (8 inch) condensing lenses in wood mounts

Lot Essay

The slides appear to be of German or Austrian origin. Those of buildings are mainly uncaptioned on the slide mounts, but research has identified Milan Cathedral; Cathedral of the Christ Saviour, Moscow, and Schloss Anif.
