2 volumes in one, 8 (158 x 105mm). Greek and italic type, separate title to Latin translation and with separate collation. Printer's device on each title, ornamental headpieces and initials. (Hole in title with loss of several letters.) CONTEMPORARY FRENCH GOLD-TOOLED FLEXIBLE VELLUM, laurel wreath at centre of both sides with 'Michael' on upper cover and 'Carpentarius' on lower, flat spine gilt with title lettered later in ink, gilt edges. Provenance: Michel Charpentier (binding, perhaps the president of Metz at the beginning of the 17th century?); A.M. Faivre (booklabel); one-leaf m.s. index at end identfying spurious and genuine letters, referring to Cottel edition. Brunet III, 404.

Ornamental headpieces and initials, pages ruled in red. (Lightly stained, small wormholes in lower margin.) Contemporary French gold-tooled flexible vellum, gilt edges (stained, defective). Provenance: Greek library stamp and cancellation. Adams G-1081.

Contemporary French calf panelled in blind with gilt emblematic tool of a hand-held flowering branch at centre, gilt fleurons at corners (backstrip defective, worn at extremities). Provenance: contemporary ownership inscription dated 1556 on pastedown; Blois, JEAN-FRANIS-PAUL LE FVRE DE CAUMARTIN library (18th-century engraved bookplate). (3)
